When George Orwell wrote that “all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others” he could have had opposition chief Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party in mind, at least going by the current loud murmurs in the political outfit.
Some Member of Parliament (MPs) in the party have lamented a clique of their colleagues, whom they accuse of abusing their proximity with Raila to reward themselves powerful positions in Parliament.
The group is also said to have influenced the nomination of their relatives in various county assemblies to the chagrin of the other party members.
The Grapevine has further learnt that one of the MPs has been bragging about her influence in determining who gets what in the party.
It is on this backdrop that there was an uproar over names that were endorsed by the party for various slots in the August House since they were influenced by the same clique.
