National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) said on Friday the timing for discussions on secession by some leaders in the Opposition was off.
Speaking at a hotel in Kilifi during the opening of a three-day peace and cohesion forum, NCIC Commissioner Adan Mohamed said leaders should instead focus on reconciling the nation, which was bleeding following a heated political season.
“We are the ones who employed them and we should tell them no if they take us in the wrong direction,” he said.
Kilifi Woman Representative Gertrude Mbeyu pledged that she would travel round the county to spread the message of peace especially among women.
“I know that the political campaign period brought with it pain and misery for many families and they need to heal. I will move round the whole county telling people, especially women, about the need to live in peace,” she said.
