Some MPs are infamous for their laxity and
ineptitude when it comes to serving their constituents but get agitated when a
good Samaritan comes to the people's rescue. Recently, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko settled the hospital bills of some
of the victims of police brutality during the anti-election demonstrations in
Nyanza.
This is after the politicians from the area
could not rescue them from the accumulating bills. Some Migori MPs, whose
laxity were laid bare, were angered by Sonko's decision to clear the bills and
his deed was met with criticism. And this was not the first time Sonko has
assisted the disadvantaged.
Instead of emulating the Nairobi governor, who has set up his own rescue team with the sole aim of assisting the poor and less-privileged, such MPs have the audacity to criticize him for his generosity despite the fact that the victims are grateful to him.
