A group of students from the University of Nairobi took to social media to condemn the institution’s vice chancellor Prof Peter Mbithi for allegedly attending a function at State House.
The purpose of Prof Mbithi’s visit to State House is still
unclear, however, some students have taken it to mean the VC is drumming up
support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This, seemingly, did not go down well with a section of them, most of whom called for his ousting.
Among the comments that were posted on the institution’s Facebook group include: “VC in State House alongside self-proclaimed Kamba leaders. Is Mbithi serious? Lecturers are not in class and he is busy shouting, ‘Tuko bar moja.’ “This mzee must go home,” read a post by Sly Atieno. Odhiambo Steve noted that, “Magoha Magoha was that dignified VC.
He had no time to waste begging State House occupants. I think Mbithi is not the right man for UoN.”
