It is judicious to avoid falling pregnant while in school because it can complicate your life. The reality is that the baby daddy might bolt. Contrary to the popular notion, being a single parent is not easy. You need financial and emotional support. This might sound crude but getting a child at that stage in your life might jeopardize your future. Even marriage in the future can be tricky because society is still prejudiced against single mothers. It is good to know.
However, if you get pregnant and keep it, all is not lost. The first step is to accept your situation. Know that it will not be easy. And know your child will probably grow with the father absent. Don’t waste time pitying yourself.
Find a way to fend for the child. If your family is supportive, they will probably take care of the child. Remember that this imposition calls that you work extra hard to ensure you are on your feet as soon as possible. Once you graduate, you will have no luxury but get a job and start providing for the baby.
Let the baby not stall you. Let the baby not stop you from dating or searching for a potential husband. Sometimes the hurt is too much and we become overly cautious, keeping men at bay, all the while hurting yourself.
It is not a mistake keeping the baby. Sometimes, it is the best thing that can happen to you.
