Othaya, Kenya: Former President Mwai Kibaki was among the last people to vote as polling came to a close at 5pm.
Mr Kibaki cast his vote at Munaini Primary School in Othaya, Nyeri County, at 5.45pm. The presiding officer did not say why the former President voted past the stipulated deadline.
The former President was to cast his ballot at around 10.30am, according to his spokesman Ngari Gituku.
There were claims that his name could not be traced in the records at the polling centre, despite him voting there in the 2013 elections.
Some of Kibaki's personnel arrived at the polling station at 7am only to find his name missing from the list. They later came back with his ID and 2007 and 2013 voter’s card.
