A 63-year old man collapsed and died shortly after casting his Vote at Lela Primary School in Kisumu County.

Mr Patrick Atindo woke up early as millions of Kenyans did on Tuesday embarking on elections in the company of his son and wife Mary Mahinda but had been in good health.

The deceased was in a different stream from the other members of the family who say he had been psyched up for the polls day.

Now widowed, Mrs Mahinda says his husband collapsed as he moved to a cooler place for a little rest after lining up to vote from wee hours of the day.

Family members say that Mr Atindo had been in good health despite having earlier complained of chest complications.

His son told the media that the news about the death of his father reached him through friends as they waited for completion of the proceeds of the exercise away from the polling station.

The body of Mr Atindo was taken to Ahero Sub-county Hospital Mortuary where it is awaiting postmortem.
