As you wake up early to vote on Tuesday, the long queues you might have witnessed in the previous general elections should not be on the list of your worries.
The electoral body has come up with mechanisms that shall be pursuing to ensure we voting is done without Kenyans struggling on the line.
Polling stations will have numerous entrances that will minimize holdups as voters get in and out for the exercise on Tuesday.
Previously voters could line up for several hours due to the large number of voters at polling stations but this has been scaled down to a maximum of 700 significantly reducing the duration of the voting.
With the use of modern technology in voter identification, it means poll clerks will not have to turn pages of print outs of the voters register trying to access civic details of voters. It will be eased with the use of biometrics immediately one produces their ID card or passport.

The commission will help voters familiarize themselves with ballot papers by displaying a sample ballot paper so that one knows what they are expected to do once issued with the six ballot papers before proceeding to secretly mark and cast them.
The acquaintance with the ballot papers shall ensure voters take the shortest time possible to vote for their preferred candidates.
Ballot boxes have lids that are synchronous in colour with the ballot papers they are supposed to host during the proceeds. In so doing, the commission seeks to have every voter place votes in the rightful place.
Presidential election paper is white, Member of Parliament will be green for MCAs it will be beige while that of a Senator is yellow and purple for woman representatives’ seat.
The gubernatorial contest ballots are blue in color.
In the event a voter marks a ballot wrongly, the commission has allowed that one can be issued with one more in order to minimize the number of spoiled votes.
All election material will be at polling stations in good time and voters will not be required to wait but shall start casting votes immediately the election officials open the polling station.
