For the last couple of days, the students from all sections of the nation have gathered in Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology to show their prowess in preserving the culture with the running theme of Enhancing Unity, Cohesion and Integration though Kenya Music Festivals. I want to appreciate the ministry for such an event.

The Cohesion and National unity is however becoming a toll order since the students are finding it difficult to lay their heads after a hard day's work in the warm tropical region of Kakamega. It has become difficult since there are animals which are trying to establish a parasitic relationship with them.

The bedbug menace seems to be the order of the day. Earlier, emergency arrangements had to be made to relocate students to a Mudasa Academy 60km away from the venue in Vihiga County since St Ignatius Mukumu boys was identified as a hotbed of "chwarni".

The Malaba Boys village was also attached on the wake of Monday forcing the organisers to make local adjustments.

We however have safe Havens in places such as St Agnes in Isukha and Modasa Academy Majengo with the latter even offering swimming lessons to the Boys.
