An M-pesa attendant in Iten town is tongue tied on what to tell his boss after fraudsters made away with Sh188, 000 in what is seen as a new hoax employed by conmen in towns and villages.
Mr. Gidion Matinyit had positive view of his customer who he has been serving in a couple of days. He explains the frequent transactions the new customer has been doing at the M-pesa shop.
Mr. Matinyit explained to this Ureporter how the man came normally like any other M-pesa customer to his shop on Thursday noon and deposited Sh4,500 after which he shortly returned to withdraw Sh24, 000 from his cell phone.
The conman made him not to suspect anything fishy before he confidently exchanged the M-pesa phone with a similar one without anybody noticing.
After a while, the attendant noticed that all was not well as suspected customer played tricks to help get a smooth escape.
