Wiper Party candidate charged with causing disturbance

Wiper Party candidate for Kibwezi West constituency arraigned and charged in Makindu law courts on Thursday for causing disturbances in a manner that is likely to cause breach of peace.

James Mbaluka, appearing before Senior Resident magistrate Gerald Mutiso and state counsel Tito Wanga pleaded not guilty of the offence that he was accused to have committed on Monday.

He reportedly disrupted a meeting confined at Mulala in the Assistant County Commissioner's office where registration of persons aged 70 years and above for the cash transfer program was ongoing.

 Mbaluka was released on a bond of Sh20,000 awaiting mention of the case on July 30.

After the court session a group allied to Patrick Musimba, the incumbent MP clashed with Mbaluka's group at Makindu market where Mbaluka was addressing his supporters.

According to an eye witness, the commotion started after Mbaluka ordered President Uhuru Kenyatta's banners and the incumbent MP posters to be pulled down.

Kawendi Junior, a resident has called for security to be provided in the market during political rallies.
