Orange Democratic Movement Party leader Raila Odinga must have left Bungoma going up in flames as he asked the ODM party candidate for the Senatorial seat to step down for Senator Wetangula.
Today, the Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula must be a worried man as the plea from his co-principal Raila Odinga failed to go well with the ODM supporters in the County.
The ODM candidates have vowed not to follow what Mr Odinga asked them to do in favour of the Ford Kenya Party leader.
During the NASA rally at Kiminini, Senator Wetangula seemed to have smelt the coffee immediately after Mr Odinga’s remarks as he stood to clarify that the rally was a presidential event asking the leaders to stick to Raila’s bid.
At a press conference on Saturday, Senatorial candidate Boniface Nyongesa said he had worked hard so as to unseat Mr Wetangula and that it was unfair for his party leader to ask him to drop his bid in favour of the senator.

“We have held a meeting and agreed that none of us will step down for Ford Kenya,” said Mr Nyongesa.
“I cannot step down since the Bungoma people have said that they want me. My name will be in the ballot and people will vote for me. I have not talked to Raila and as candidates; we have issued a statement and said we cannot sacrifice our posts,” he said.
According to Nyongesa, it would have been prudent for the senator not to vie for the seat since they overwhelmingly supported him in 2013, accusing Wetangula of destroying the ODM party gains in the area.
He said that Mr Wetangula had been fighting ODM candidates in Bungoma more fiercely that Jubilee Party was yet he is NASA principal and warned that the senator could easily make NASA lose votes in the area.
