Like many teenagers, Georgina Obiero was once too broke to even make her hair. She would tie her hair back in a simple bun, or conceal it under a headwrap.
Her creative wrapping techniques soon became her signature — she would soon be known as ‘Mama Africa’ and the ‘Queen of Head Wraps’ in her hood.
More people began taking note of her unique style. And after some prompting from her family and friends, Georgina realised that she could turn her talent into a business.
The 23-year old Bachelor of Arts student at The University of Nairobi has since established herself firmly in the industry.
She got her first break styling Miss India Kenya 2014. She also did the head wrapping for Miss Nyamira County, the late Mercy Mokeira.
