As Christians all over the world prepare to celebrate the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is vital to internalise and practise His love for the world. In Isaiah 53:3-12, we are told that Jesus was wounded for our transgression and bruised for our iniquities.

In addition, He was brought as a lamb to the slaughterhouse all because of His love for the world. Crucifixion was the worst form of death during the Roman Empire that our Lord Jesus Christ endured in order to ransom us from sin. Jesus’ agony, anguish and perseverance on the cross demonstrates the transcendence of His love. In simple terms, Jesus’ vicarious death on the cross was a price for the love of the world (John 3:16).

As one theologian said, you can give without loving but you cannot love without giving, let us emulate God’s unconditional love. Let us remember the reason for God’s immeasurable and indescribable love for the world. It is not a season to engage in debauchery. It is time to walk the talk.
