The ongoing drought and famine in some parts of the country are quite disturbing. The media has been awash with pictures and stories of starving women and malnourished children who are in dire need of food.
The current situation was occasioned by low rainfall that took place in most parts of the country last year. Sadly, millions of people in this country are experiencing water and food shortage, as well as, inadequate pasture for their livestock.
For example, in Baringo County an estimated 5,000 families and 10,000 livestock are at risk of perishing due to prolonged and debilitating dry spell. Although the Government's attention has been drawn to Turkana, Kilifi and Baringo region only, there are thousands of citizens who are facing starvation daily especially in arid and semi-arid areas.
