A landlord in Nyamage Village of Kisii County has surprised many by serving his tenants allied to the opposition with vacate notices if they can’t support Jubilee.

The retired teacher only identified as Mr. Henry is said to have issued the notices after realizing his rental apartment was largely dominated by CORD supporters mainly from the Luo Nyanza.

The infuriated landlord had stormed the apartment moments before sun rise with padlocks to lock up the rooms.

“You either support Jubilee or quit!” He was heard yelling as he entered the gate.

The tenants were surprised to hear the landlord’s remarks citing they had only differed on the low token units contrary to the large amounts of money they paid.

“I had only questioned the landlord on the large amounts of moneys we pay for the electricity. I had paid ksh.1, 700 and was only given two units which is awkward!” bellowed a tenant.

Aggravated by his actions, they vowed never to quit claiming the landlord had breached their right to quality services such as access to clean water.

The commotion however attracted a large crowd forcing the landlord to abolish his vacate mission for another day.

The landlord has vowed to seek the intervention of sungusungu (an outlawed sect) to forcefully evict the tenants in case they decline to vamoose.

Ugunja Member of Parliament and the ODM secretary for political affairs Opiyo Wandayi has conversely described the landlord’s action as very uncouth and should never have happened.

Wandayi reiterated that he should face the full force of the law as that is discrimination based on political grounds.
