This obsession of taking selfies with celebrities should end. It only shows how some people have underlying issues. It says a lot about their esteem. They actually have none. They therefore want to validate themselves by showing association with important people in society.
One Brenda Chepkoech has
just shown us how we are selfie hungry. How our women attach a lot of importance
on selfies. The same selfie hungry lady has taken selfies with president Uhuru,
deputy president William Ruto and Erick Omondi. Her latest effort to add Chris
Brown ended badly. She deserves reproach for her "kiherehere" and not just her phone being allegedly
smashed.
I am yet to know if there are fringe benefits of taking selfies with celebrities. Does it put food on the table? Is it added somewhere in a person's CV? Do the achievements of the celebrity get transmitted via selfies to the fan? Does it wash away someone's financial or unemployment woes?
The selfie lovers are people who can't let us see important things on social media. They will ambush us with 20+ photos of themselves, their cats, their new hairdos, their children and anything about them under the sun. Then they will deceive us that its self-love-whatever that means. Just by their selfies, we can tell how they are not only attention seekers but also live a life of lies. I have always wondered why the background is always clear and says nothing about how poverty stricken we all know they are.
While selfies are here
to stay, let the selfie lovers have some dignity. By the way, can we trust men
who take selfies all the time? I mean, are they straight? It will do us all
good when women know that there's more to life than selfies, nudes, semi-nude
photos and begging celebrities for selfies.
