The
terror attack on Westgate Mall in 2013 brought out not only our resilience as
Kenyans but also revolutionized the state of security. Since then, our security
agencies have adopted serious counter-terror measures to ensure the safety of
Kenyans and foreigners alike.
The
incident saw an increased use of metal detectors at the entrance of most business
premises. Surveillance was also been enhanced to thwart not just terror
activities, but other crimes as well.
I
would confidently say our security agencies have done a good job. Terror
activities have gone down drastically and tourism, which was most affected, is
slowly recovering even as tourists, especially foreign, regain their confidence
in our country.
However,
much more still remains to be done before we are free from all threats.
