Female circumcision is prevalent in many parts of the country although the practice is outlawed in Kenya.
Thousands of girls will be circumcised this month and in December. Some girls are already nursing their circumcision wounds in secrecy.

The ‘cut’ is a bridge as girls cross from childhood to adulthood.
The practice and ceremonies have only gone underground. FGM is far from being eradicated.
