A lobby group has asked Parliament to disband the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) over integrity issues.
The National Civil Society Congress (NCSC), under the banner "Operation Ondoa Panya Accountability", claims the institution is toothless and dysfunctional and wants it disbanded immediately.
NCSC President Moris Odhiambo (pictured) alleged that the body is only capable of protecting selfish interests of criminals, the rich and the most powerful in the society and termed it a disgrace to the sovereignty of the people of Kenya.
"We demand complete overhaul of the commission, from the commissioners to the support staff," he said.
He said the anti-graft body, which has been rocked by corruption allegations, was no longer independent and has become subject to "control by any person or authority".
