During President Barack Obama's tour of Kenya last year, street children were nowhere to be seen.
They had been confined to rehabilitation centres where they got quality care. But unfortunately, this was short lived. Education is a powerful tool which can tremendously transform these children. They have right to education and they should be in school learning like any other Kenyan child.
The county government should set aside some funds and take these street children to rehabilitation centres where they can be taught vocational courses. Their basic needs should be well catered for because this will make them feel loved. Education can convert them from street beggars to entrepreneurs.
These children can help take this country if given a chance.
