The Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion opposed recent changes in the school calendar proposed by Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to curb cheating in exams.
Last year, there were widespread exam irregularities which prompted Dr Matiang’i to act.
Consequently, Matiang’i has shortened the period for national secondary exams from six weeks to four and put the head teachers directly in charge of the tests in their schools.
This is to make sure school principals are responsible and answerable for any cases of exam cheating.
The CS is trying to do anything possible to see the education system is running smoothly.
