A funeral service in Teso South turned chaotic after supporters of Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong and those of Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba clashed.
Enthusiasts of the two senior Orange Democratic Movement politicians engaged in a shouting contest, interrupting the service severally.
Ababu was at one point pushed from the podium and the microphone snatched from him.
Ojaamong and Ababu had attended the funeral of an elderly couple who perished in a fire incident last week.
Villagers accused Ojaamong of doing little to help the bereaved family.

While addressing the mourners, the governor, expressed condolences to the family and promised to come back at a later date.
“I have no problem with anyone. I want peace in Busia County,” he said before walking to a waiting vehicle which sped off.
When Ababu took to the podium again, he said ‘Ojaamong is surrounded by brokers’ and regretted that the burial had turned chaotic.
