Kanu has accused the Independent, Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of trivialising Kenyans' concerns over its ability to preside over credible elections next year.
Party Secretary General Nick Salat said IEBC is playing with the minds of Kenyans by reducing weighty issues raised by various stakeholders to a contest between it and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
“It is dishonest to trivialise matters raised concerning their integrity. The electoral body cannot purport to answer back CORD and Raila,” said Salat.
On Thursday, IEBC led by its chairman Issack Hassan accused Raila and CORD of peddling sensational claims against the commission.
Hassan in a press conference also attended by IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba, said the opposition was trying to use unorthodox methods to remove them from office and vowed to stay put. “We have examined the flippant allegations and systematic attempts to discredit the Commission. For avoidance of doubt, the commissioners are not resigning,” said Hassan. But Salat yesterday said Kenyans had lost faith in the Commission and they must be forced to leave office.
