Residents of Mbooni West sub-county woke up to a rude shock to find a badly mutilated body of a Standard Eight pupil.
According to the Mbooni West Deputy County Commissioner Mrs Shadrack Karoki, Ndinda Mutua, a pupil at Ituti Primary School in Kitundu location, was on her way to school when an unknown assailant attacked her on Thursday morning.
Confirming the incident, Mbooni West police chief James Baraza said the assailant slit the girl's throat. "No one has so far been arrested in connection with the brutal murder," he told The Saturday Standard on telephone.
The body was moved to Makueni Level Five Hospital to await a post-mortem examination as investigations got under way. Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao consoled the family and urged the police to move with speed and arrest the culprit.
