Police were right to use force on UON students

I don't want to take sides on either the unruly behavior of UON intellectuals who took to the streets and proceeded to pelt innocent motorists with stones or the uncalled for brutal response by the anti-riot officers.

It is plain obvious. I was irked by both parties. Both are getting on my nerves for perpetuating such.

You can't imagine that within the confines of these hallowed institutions of higher learning, they can't manage to solve their issues amicably without resorting to violence, or venting their frustrations on innocent parties.

On the matter of taking it to the streets, I fully support the use of force to contain the situation.

We all know the will of these scholars, and the extent they can go to when they are championing a particular course. In this case, causing damage.

But following allegations that these officers proceeded to lecture halls and hostels to cane students is alarming.

You can't issue a blanket condemnation. I am sure the entire UON was not rioting. Some of the students were minding their own businesses within the institution. So why wreck such havoc and terrorise innocent students?
