Governors, help us exploit Lake Victoria

Besides the Nile treaty that bars us from making good use of Lake Victoria, other valuable resources sourced from the water can still be exploited and utilised accordingly.

Even as the Egyptians enjoy the fresh water that flows from this important lake, I am of the opinion that other countries that border the lake have not capitalised on its resources fully.

With the advent of the devolved governments, the exploitation of the resources can be sped up in the interest of poverty alleviation.

While it is good to lobby for re-election, I would like the governors of Kisumu, Siaya and Homa Bay to exploit the lake's resources to the satisfaction of the people.

Water hyacinth is a blessing in disguise if the many scientific researches done are to be relied on. A World Bank report says it can be used to add 45MW of electricity to the grid.
