The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will soon stop sending hard copy payslips to teachers.
The commission has called on the teachers to register for online payslips. In a circular dated March 24, TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia said the commission will soon stop the printing and posting of hard copy payslips in order to harness the potential in information, communication and technology.
The circular says in future, teachers will be applying for Sacco and bank loans through a secure and efficient online platform. “Teachers will directly forward their online payslips to the financial institutions for verification and action,” said Ms Macharia.
Macharia said teachers should register or confirm registration status by April 18.

Meanwhile, teachers’ unions have called on their members to validate their membership as they explore other avenues of engaging the commission over union membership.
A highly placed unionist, who refused to be quoted, said they are asking their members to validate membership so as to beat the TSC at their own game.
“This is an issue we have fought but since it is being used to molest the unions, we are advising our members to validate as we continue to find alternative solutions,” said the unionist.
He added the unions will only operate effectively if they have funds, saying that can only be realised if members are encouraged to validate their membership.
“We are also asking the commission to offer alternative ways of registration for those teachers who had not been captured as by August and have filled in the necessary forms.
The commission should have also ensured that there is a way out for those who want to move from one union to the other,” he said.
Though the validation exercise was to end by February 29, The Standard found out that validation portal was still active.
