A friend thinks that I am encouraging the young ones not to work hard in school. That I am glorifying low marks and grades just because last week, I told Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education students not to give up on life because getting an A in school is not all there is to life.
I affirm by what I said last week, tomorrow is always a better day because you have today to improve on your life
You have today to dust yourself and walk with pride again, to make amends on the things you failed to do for whatever reason.
My older son was not exactly an A student, but I was more than happy when he sat his KCSE examinations.
I was even more joyful when he brought his leaving certificate home, because there are many brilliant students who fail to sit their examinations for one reason or the other, and all the work they did in those four years does not count.
Today, my son shines in his chosen career, and while he puts lots of effort in his artistic work, sometimes working late into the night, I know his best is yet to come, because tomorrow holds better.
Needless to say, I am proud of him for keeping the faith and not disappointing me and his father, and of course himself.
His brother on the other hand is an A student, and my heart does a little dance whenever he brings his papers home. As much as it may be a tad too early to praise him and his academic efforts, my prayer like of any other parent is that he remains a studious student and that one day he will make us proud, just like his brother has.
This said, life is about how you finish the race and not how you start. Because sometimes, when you think that you have it all figured out, something will derail you.
Your Destiny
Things can happen when you were just about to take sail and it is best to sit back and remember what you are all about; recall what you have always believed about yourself, what you have always known to be true about yourself.
Because the truth is that even if things suddenly take a curve it does not mean that they are not on track.
Often, the curve is part of what may be a difficult process, because if you take a moment and look back, you will realise that put together, all that you considered mishaps have somehow worked together for your greater good.
What you may deem a curse right now could be that blessing that will lead you to your destiny.
As long as you do the right thing at the intended time, you need not worry much because the universe will back you up towards where your life should be
