Members of the Mukamukuu Farmers Co-operative Society want the Government to crackdown on a cartel frustrating issuance of title deeds. They said a group of people has been holding illegal meetings aimed at inciting members to revolt against the cause.
Addressing the Press at the society's offices, the members led by Muia Makosi and Boniface Mulandi, said on March 11, a special general meeting unanimously endorsed the selling of part of the society's land (47 acres) to raise money to pay for the title deeds that were ready for collection at the Machakos Lands office.
"But there is a cartel of people, some of whom are non-members going round inciting members to reject the proposal," said the members.
They urged the Government to act on the cartel whose aim was to grab the intended land. The members urged the society's management to stick to the special meeting's resolution.
"A majority of us cannot afford to raise the Sh45,000 for every title deed," said Makosi.
