It is shocking to learn that many children are being recruited into crime by gangs in Kisumu.
According to media reports, records at Kisumu Children Remand Home show that 82 children are incarcerated, some facing serious criminal charges like murder, robbery with violence, stock theft, burglary and even defilement.
The children are exposed to alcohol and illicit drugs early in life and this has been a contributing factor to juvenile delinquents.
To minimise this, the children should be sensitised on the dangers of drugs.
The community should also provide protection for vulnerable children, especially orphans.
