I commend Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for stopping Kisii University's closure.
The Commission for University Education had ordered the university's campuses closed in 90 days.
But the CS has given the university one year to comply with the guidelines of university education and appointed a team of experts to advise the varsity, which will see higher learning in the institution improve.
The commission should continue auditing higher learning institutions to ensure quality standards.
The number of students enrolling in colleges and universities is on rise. However, financial constraints remain a challenge, which has resulted in inadequacy of the necessary facilities.
