Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has declared that his recently formed Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement is unstoppable.
The governor also dismissed the Friday CORD/Wiper rally held in Machakos town as politically inconsequential.
His sentiments were echoed by four legislators from lower eastern region allied to him who said they were firmly in support of the movement.
Dr Mutua said the top Wiper leadership had panicked due to the shift in the region's politics, which he said was now development focused as opposed to populist rhetoric.
"The main agenda of Maendeleo Chap Chap is to bring real change and development to the people and employing strategies that will tackle the poverty facing our people," he said.

Mutua who spoke through his Press Secretary Mutinda Mwanzia said time was running out for politicians who thrive on empty promises and chest-thumping at rallies.
The Wiper party hosted a leaders forum and later a political rally at the Mulu Mitisya gardens where its leader Kalonzo Musyoka was endorsed as the party's presidential flag bearer in the 2017 General Election.
CORD co-principals Raila Odinga and Moses Wetang'ula attended the two meetings where they said Jubilee cannot shake them.
Mutua, who has differed with the Wiper leadership, did not attend the meetings as he is out of the country but asked his deputy, Bernard Kiala, to represent him.
Sunday, MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town ), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), Itwiku Mbai (Masinga) and Tip Tip party leader Kalembe Ndile accused Wiper of advocating the politics of poverty and marginalisation.
"Wiper has no agenda for the Kamba community, and is only using Mr Kalonzo as a bait to harvest votes from the community for Raila," said Mr Ndile.
"I can tell you Mutua has made Kalonzo and his team run scared. His style of operation is supported by the masses," said Mr Munyaka.
