A Nakuru court has sentenced a polygamous man, who is also a father of five, to life for repeatedly defiling his six-year-old daughter.
The accused defiled his daughter on July 16 last year at Rhonda Estate in Nakuru. The man was caught pants down by the wife.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku ruled that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. "A man who defiles his daughter and takes away her innocence leaves lifelong scars in the life of the child. Physical scars may heal with time but psychological scars remain for the rest of her life. Such persons do not deserve leniency," ruled the magistrate.
Five witnesses testified in the case; his second wife and biological mother of the minor, the child, a neighbour, a doctor and a police officer.
The court heard from the child that on the fateful night, her mother screamed to stop her father from defiling her. She said that was not the first time as the man had earlier defiled her while her mother had gone to work.
