There was grief in Kamachabi village in Tharaka Nithi yesterday, after a woman killed her husband following a quarrel. The 29-year-old killed the man after he allegedly demanded Sh200 that she had saved from milk proceeds.
Lucy Kajira, a neighbour who witnessed the fight that led to the death of the man, said the two started chasing each other after which they engaged in a fight.
"The husband hit his wife on her back using a panga. The woman then picked up a large piece of firewood and hit her husband on the head, killing him on the spot," Ms Kajira narrated.
"The deceased's head was badly injured and covered in blood. He then collapsed and died," Kajira added.
The mother of two then took herself to Kamachabi Administration Police Post after realising she had killed her husband. She was later taken to Makutano Police Station and recorded a statement.
