Four out of every five youths who turned up for the Kenya Defence Forces recruitment suffer from a lifestyle disease, a study of Nyamira and Bomet counties has revealed.

 The survey showed all medical conditions discovered in over 80 per cent of the youth at various recruitment centres were associated with lifestyle ailments. Senior recruiting officer in charge of the regions Lt Col Mwachala Kimonge noted many youths who were turned away after failing medical tests had high protein in the blood, blood in urine, high blood sugar and even high blood pressure.
