Governor William Kabogo relocates to Kiambu office

Governor William Kabogo has finally relocated to Kiambu town office, which is the gazetted county headquarters.

This is after the completion of renovations that were being undertaken.

Mr Kabogo made the announcement on Saturday when he hosted youths cerebrating a ‘Youth Week’ that had been organised by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports.

“The governor will now be operating from Kiambu town. All my office equipment has now been moved. We had to be in Thika for sometime to allow renovations to be undertaken,” said Kabogo.

After he was sworn into office in 2013, Kabogo shifted his operations to Thika town, which did not go well with leaders and residents of Kiambu.

Kabogo took a swipe at those who have been pressuring him to move office to Kiambu asking them to get something else to talk about.

At the same time, he advised residents to seek services at the sub-county offices instead of traveling to the headquarters.

He said his government was on the right track, noting that a lot has been achieved in the last two and half years since he came to office.

Youth Affairs Executive Machel Waikenda said members of the executive have been allocated offices at the headquarters where they will be operating from.

“I have been operating from Kiambu for a while now. All my colleagues have offices here for easy service delivery to our people, and I encourage youths to visit our offices. You do not need to have an appointment to see me, you can just walk in,” said Mr Waikenda.

He also disclosed that the governor had increased the Kiambu Biashara Fund from Sh300 million to Sh400 million with the ultimate goal being to increase the fund to Sh1 billion due to demand.

“We received 32,000 application forms, which translated to Sh2 billion. This clearly shows that women, youth and people living with disability need our assistance. Governor Kabogo has, therefore, seen the need to increase the fund so that many people can benefit from it,” said Waikenda.
