Kenya’s first serving ambassador to Turkey Kiema Kilonzo has presented his credentials to the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoan, at the presidential palace in Ankara.
While presenting his credentials, Kiema noted, “It is a great honour and immense privilege to present my credentials following my appointment by His Excellency, Hon Uhuru Kenyatta, President of the Republic of Kenya as Ambassador to this great and beautiful country.”
“The relations between Kenya and Turkey have continued to grow from strength to strength, with Kenya eventually opening an Embassy in Ankara in 2012. There have been exchanges of high level visits, and President Uhuru’s visit in April 2014, was a manifestation of the importance and value we have attached to our relations,” he added.
The envoy pledged to ensure the bilateral relations between the two countries continues to thrive.
Following the credentials presentation ceremony recently, and as per the traditions of the Turkish Republic, Mr Kiema laid a wreath at the Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founding father of the modern Turkish Republic.

Kiema was accompanied by his wife Christine Kilonzo, mother Janet Kasyoka, his children, Kenyan Embassy staff and family.
Kiema becomes the first serving Kenyan Ambassador since the opening of the Kenya Embassy in Ankara in July 2012.
