NAIROBI: Brand Kenya Chairman and Media 7 Group Founder Hanningtone Gaya is the new chairman of Media Owners Association (MOA), an organisation that brings together media owners and senior industry executives.
He takes over from Standard Group CEO Sam Shollei who has been at the helm of MOA for the past one year.
Paul Coogan from Family Media is the new Deputy Chairman, while Julius Lamaon from Kass Media Group is the new Secretary.
Standard Group's Managing Director Print Operations, Francis Munywoki and David Kimotho of 3 stones TV were elected Treasurer and Organising Secretary respectively.
Shollei now joins Joshua Chepkwony (Kass Media), Chris Kirubi (Capital), Wachira Waruru (RMS), Kiprono Kittony (Radio Africa) and Leo Slingerland (Family Media) as executive committee members.

Others are Tom Mshindi (Nation Media Group), Ian Fernandes (Mediamax) and Rose Kimotho (3 Stones TV).
Gaya, in his acceptance speech, said he will ensure the association continues to contribute positively to important national issues such a national security, tourism recovery, devolution and good governance.
"I wish to thank my immediate predecessor Sam Shollei for walking the association up its journey of faith, a journey I now commit to continue on behalf of our members," he said.
