A South Africa firm, Shield Chemicals, has appointed local company Radbone-Clark Kenya its local distributor for Hydra-Oil — a specially formulated skin care product that helps diminish scars, stretch marks and skin discolourations, such as spots and blemishes.
Shield Chemicals’ appointment of Radbone-Clark means the local firm will spearhead Kenyan sales and marketing functions as part of a global market expansion strategy.
The move makes Radbone-Clark the third global distributor of the beauty and dermatological product after South Africa and Robanda International, the exclusive distributor for Hydra-Oil in North America, Europe and South America.
In Kenya, Hydra-Oil will be sold in leading retail pharmacies and outlets.
Radbone-Clark Managing Director Rajen Patel described the appointment as a sign of confidence in the firm and the growing local beauty care market, which analysts estimate to be worth more than Sh15 billion annually.
The beauty products market, is believed to be enjoying steady growth, particularly in the skin care products category, due to rising consumer preference.
“The introduction of Hydra-Oil in Kenya is a major vote of confidence in the country’s growing mass of discerning consumers seeking new beauty and dermatological solutions,” Mr Patel said.
“At Radbone-Clark, we shall be investing heavily in the necessary product marketing at all leading retail pharmacies and supermarket stores.”
