The hearing of a case involving embattled Speaker Kassait Kamket and two members of county assembly (MCAs) accused of incitement and conspiracy to murder resumed Thursday.
The three appeared before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Wanjiku Wamae but the Press and the public were excluded from the session.
The lawyers representing the speaker led by Stanely Kang'ai later told the Press a decision to hear the case in private was reached following a High Court order.
"Three people who testified against the speaker and three MCAs are under witness protection," he explained.
Kang'ai maintained that even though the law provides for hearing of matters in camera, they were not aware of any witness intimidation in the case.

"Witness protection normally applies where there are threats on those who will testify," he added.
The lawyer, however, expressed optimism the case would be concluded and his client acquitted.
The trial continues today with more witnesses expected to testify.
