There is a possible merger of Okoa-Kenya and Pesa Mashinani referendum campaign initiatives.
Council of Governors chairman and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has indicated that governors are exploring the possibility of merging Pesa Mashinani referendum push with that of Okoa Kenya should majority of them support the idea.
OKoa Kenya has launched its referendum Bill and is verifying the one million signatures and refining the Bill on specific provisions before hitting the ground to campaign.
“We are reviewing their proposals and looking at legal aspects to explore ways of how we can work together,“ said Ruto.

However, the CoG has insisted that allocations to the counties should be anchored in the Constitution to avoid cases where the devolved units will have to keep on begging for more funds in future.
Okoa Kenya is seen by Jubilee as a campaign gimmick for the 2017 polls and claims CORD is using the referendum to distract the Government and derail its development agenda.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga has, however, noted CORD or the Jubilee Aliance Party, which is set to be President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s campaign vehicle in 2017, will not be on the ballot.
