Kenya: Nakumatt Supermarkets has closed a deal to be the anchor tenant at the upcoming Sh3 billion Comesa Mall, in Eastleigh.
The Nakumatt Eastleigh branch gives the regional retailer an entry into Nairobi’s populous estate and a vibrant business hub.
While signing the lease agreement yesterday with the Mall Developers, Darasa Investments Limited, Nakumatt Holdings Managing Director Atul Shah explained the move is part of the firm’s two-year corporate growth strategy, which will see the retailer opening its 60th branch by the end of next year.
Shah reiterated that the move to open a branch in Eastleigh is expected to boost the firm’s growth rate. “At our current growth pace and based on the regional market demand, we anticipate opening a minimum of 14 more branches by end of 2016,” he said. -Abigael Sum
