Kenya: Valentine’s Day – the global official lover’s day – is being celebrated tomorrow and it looks like all Kenyans – from the hustlers to the well-wheeled want a piece of that irresistible ‘Sh2.4 million a night presidential suite’ offer at Villa Rosa Kempinski.
Google search trends (weekly polls) for the first 12 days of February, show that a significant number of Kenyans took to Google to search more about the tempting offer and perhaps if they could get maybe a discount, bargain... anything to slash the offer.
In preparation for the D-Day, the Google poll shows that a good number of Kenyans also searched for romantic Valentine’s quotes perhaps in a bid to serenade that one person who has smitten their hearts.
Another holiday destination that attracted tremendous attention of Kenyans this Valentine’s season is the Tafaria Castle, which was third on the top 10 list of trending searches.
Perhaps to pick up a few lines from telenovelas, Kenyans also searched Amor Bravio, a Mexican romantic soap.

My Love Is Like Whoa, a romantic song by an American recording artist Mýa also made it to the list of top trending searches around Valentine’s.
With the increasing lifestyle diseases, Kenyans are also keen to find out more about diseases that are associated with romance.
Kissing Cancer, was the term most Kenyans used to query if kissing can cause cancer.
Other searches that trended this Valentine’s season include Chocolate Day and the usual suspect Depo Provera, a birth control jab.
Interestingly, there were searches on ‘Relationship hookups in Kenya’, an indication that the singletons do not want to spend the day alone and cold.
