One cutting edge technology that many have been deeply afraid of and skeptical about for a long time is facial recognition. However, developers of Welcome, a facial recognition device, trusts that people will accept their new invention.
According to the developers, from an innovation company known as Netatmo, Welcome acts as a HD smart security camera that is able to recognise individuals as they enter a house using facial recognition technology.
After a period of use, the home camera learns to identify members of a household. It sends an alert to a connected mobile device whenever it detects any of them entering the house with messages such as “Mary is home”. In cases where the person entering the house is a guest or intruder, the home owner receives a notification on his device indicating that it has detected an outsider. The camera uses an infrared LED to capture footage at night or whenever it is dark and has a tiny microphone that provides an audio feed.
