Teachers have criticised a proposal by National Assembly Leader of Majority Adan Duale to devolve primary and secondary school education to the counties.
The teachers said they will not allow education sector to be devolved to the counties.
Lakipia County Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers Executive Secretary Ndungu Wangenye and Treasurer Peter Gaithi observed that the county administrations would mess up the sector as they have done to other devolved ministries.
"We want the sector to be managed by the national government. The proposal by Mr Duale is ill advised so we will not allow it to happen," said Mr Wangenye.
Gaithi said the move is meant to frustrate the teachers further.
