Two brothers died and seven others sustained serious injuries after a mine caved in at Nyatike, Migori County, on Monday.
The Osir goldmine accident that killed Peter Otieno and Fredrick Otieno was attributed to heavy rains.
Area police boss Dishon Chebaka said his officers, in collaboration with the community, managed to
recover Peter's body but that of his brother Fredrick had not been recovered by press time yesterday.
Medical care
"We have established after investigations that there was a land slide at night when some nine youths were working in the mines.
The police received information promptly and rushed to the scene where with the help of some people we managed to rescue the seven," Mr Chebaka said.
