We have all at some point, while roaming in the socialverse, come across an awful post on Facebook and wondered why there is no ‘dislike’ button.
While there are a number of Facebook users that would love to see a dislike button, there are several reasons that this button has never been introduced to date. The main reason is cyber-bullying.
Those advocating for the button may, however, argue that such a button would make some online social situations less embarrassing. For instance, whenever announcing disappointing news such as the death of a family member through a post, it would be more appropriate and less awkward for people to tap on a ‘dislike’ button rather than the ‘like’ button.
This holiday season, Facebook has promised to introduce a new ‘disliking’ feature.
While Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg affirmed that the feature will not be termed ‘dislike’, he said that it will provide Facebook users a new way of expressing their sentiments towards a post “rather than just positivity”.

“Everyone feels like they can just push the ‘Like’ button, and that’s an important way to sympathise or empathise with someone.
