Senate Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki has asked local leaders to work with Governor Samuel Tunai instead of opposing the county government for their own selfish gain.

He asked a section of the Maasai leaders opposed to Mr Tunai to swallow their pride and work with the governor for the sake of the development. Senator Stephen ole Ntutu is leading calls to have the governor resign over allegations of misappropriation of revenue from Masai Mara reserve.

"The coalition has confidence in the governor who has been its steadfast supporter. He is a development-minded person who should be supported and not opposed for selfish gains," said Prof Kindiki in Narok.

He was speaking on Sunday at Narosura during a local Catholic Church ceremony to mark the annual harvesting prayers.

Accompanied by the governor, Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchela, Narok East MP Lemaken Kiloku, Woman Representative Soipan Kudate and other local leaders, Kindiki said President Uhuru Kenyatta has confidence in the governor's leadership and advised local leaders to sort out their differences in a civilised manner instead of resorting to street demonstrations.

"You should sit down and talk whenever differences occur. Going to the streets and making it difficult for people of the area to access development should be avoided," he said.

He noted that squabbles facing other counties in the country were disturbing and asked leaders to talk and resolve their differences instead of resorting to disruptive means.
