Nairobi; Kenya: I was talking to a United States-based friend recently and when I inquired about his well being, he said that he was “still in the rat race, chasing the dollar.”
This is a pretty wealthy man but his statement led me into thinking about how we are programmed to a lifetime of pursuing wealth.
Wealth creation is a wide subject but here are some thoughts. Money is always an inadequate motivator to get wealthy.
Until you understand that, you will probably spin in circles trying to “get rich” and wondering why it is not happening to you.
The thing with using money as a motivator is that it works in the short term but when things are hard, will you still continue engaging in the same business?

To be truly motivated, to press on through the inevitable challenges, you need to understand the real reason you are doing engaging in that business.
CREATE VALUE
The easiest way to build wealth is by creating value for others.
Thus, instead of thinking of how to become rich, think about value creation. That will give you the right mindset that you need to become successful, as it shifts the focus from you to your client or employer.
Another important step to being wealthy is mastering energy management and not time management. I have heard many people say time is their biggest obstacle to achieving their goals.
But the same people can tell you all the latest on the news, politics, TV shows and movies because they spend hours each evening catching up. I have realised that time is not their issue, it is the energy.
Over time, I have created habits that have the most impact on what I aim to achieve. They include my thoughts patterns, visualisations, eating and exercising.
Simple things like getting more sleep, drinking more water, taking short walks, and cutting on sugar intake can add several hours of really focused energy to your day.
And you would be surprised what you can do in two hours when you are focussed. You can do more in two hours with high energy than most people do in eight hours.
Another secret through which you get where you want to be is by working with a mentor or a coach. Why reinvent the wheel while others before you have done it?
Most people would rather explain why they think, what they think or do what they do, yet they have no history of making money.
Wealth creation and success mentors exist, look for them, conserve your energy and use theirs. Today, could be a milestone in your journey to wealth creation.
The place you can start is where you are right now. Everyone would like to start at the front but that is not how the world works.
Ask yourself how and where you can add the most value. Create the right habits and jump into the line.
